Integration of the video surveillance system with smart street lighting
Nowadays, the cities have in place video surveillance systems co-existing with smart street lighting. By integrating these systems, one can obtain greater value for citizens and operation.
Using an IP video camera with deep learning processing capabilities and able to communicate on protocols like MQTT or HTTP, like the ones produced by Axis Communication, the integrated system can command the light intensity triggered on events happening on the street. The same could be achieved with regular PIR or radar sensors mounted on the luminaire, but these have a range of action limited by the position of the sensor.

Placing a camera on a street pole, high enough, there is possible to create different scenarios for detecting classified objects like humans or several types of vehicles in predefined several areas, along the whole street, on the same camera. The dimming level of a lamp can be controlled individually by the trigger of the nearest scenario.
This integration offers higher flexibility, making it possible to dynamically change the dimming policies and the size and position of the controlled areas on the street. Additionally, the traffic data could be reported regularly by the camera organized in these different scenarios. The data stored on the back end makes possible further historical analysis, insights, and policies improvement.

Agriculture crop monitoring

Alarms sent via e-mail and mobile notification about environment or soil conditions requiring action from farmer’s side and about devices’ status like low battery or not sending data for a period


Vending machines monitoring
Azure IoT based solution for remote monitoring of refrigerated vending machines spread in different locations, assuring remote real-time monitor of the functional parameters of the machine, remote commands from a central operator and sending notifications about status and malfunctions.
The application is recording information about customer, machine model and service work orders and showing the device geolocation on a map together with device current status.


Telemetry data can be analyzed on different time periods, grouped by in device sets and split by various properties including customer or machine information. The end-user can compare evolution of the same parameter on multiple devices, detecting anomalies or malfunctions. A central operator can send commands to be executed on the device or to set properties like fan speed to be updated on the device. Commands can be sent to multiple devices using one job.
A retail company using the solution is optimizing the process of monitoring the critical parameters for goods safety like temperature, humidity, the stock of goods and is reducing the maintenance costs of machines. Anti-tempering information available in real-time, increases machine safety placed in third-party locations. Additional to the improved operational and reaction processes, safety of sold goods can be proved by historical data, and real time data about the stock and products consumed in each location could improve business efficiency and forecast.
